Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a broad range of medicine practices sharing common concepts which have been developed in China and are based on a tradition of more than 5000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage (Tuina), exercise (qigong), and dietary therapy. It is primarily used as a complementary alternative medicine approach. TCM is widely used in China and it is also used worldwide. TCM is now very commonly used in most western medicine modalities and is referred to as Integrative Medicine.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine in which single use, disposable thin needles are inserted into the body. It is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Acupuncture promotes natural healing, and is recognized by the World Health Organization as effective treatment for many common types of pain, as well as enhancing immune function and recuperative power. It improves overall function and wellbeing. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a variety of medical and emotional conditions.

Asian Bodywork Therapy (Tuina)

Tuina is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture. Tuina is a hands-on body treatment that manipulates acupuncture lines and meridians. Tuina techniques aid in the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions..
In ancient China, medical therapy was often classified as either “external” or “internal” treatment. Tuina was one of the external methods, thought to be especially suitable for use on the elderly population and on infants. In modern China, many hospitals include tuina as a standard aspect of treatment, with specialization for infants, adults, orthopedics, traumatology, cosmetology, rehabilitation, and sports medicine.

Chinese Herbology

Chinese herbology is the ancient use of herbal decoctions and pills to treat either adjunct to Acupuncture or as a stand- alone therapy. Most modern medicines are derived from plants and minerals, Herbology goes back to the more simple and more effective forms of these medicinal treatments, avoiding side effects and toxicity often associated with western pharmacology. Herbal formulas are available as convenient teapills, tea powders that can be mixed on hot water, or raw herbs that can be boiled into teas.
